The event is hosted by LSG committee member Lawrence Shaw and the New Forest National Park at Lyndhurst Community Centre, New Forest National Park on Friday 24th March, followed by a field trip on Saturday 25th March 2017.

Saturday 25th March 2017

Fields trip around Whitemore, Lyndhurst. A seven mile walking looking at archaeological landscapes ranging from Iron Age fortified enclosures, Medieval park pales and hunting lodges, Post-Medieval saltpeter works and First World War bombing schools.

Departing on foot at 9.30 from Bolton’s Bench car park at the bottom (east end) of the High Street (SO43 7NL, nearest for sat nav, free parking all day). Return estimated at 13.30. Station drop-offs can be arranged. Fairly easy terrain, appropriate clothing and footwear required – any questions on the fieldtrip please email Lawrence

How to find us:

Lyndhurst Community Centre is located in the Main Car Park off the High Street in Lyndhurst (SO43 7NY) opposite the New Forest Museum. Parking is £5 all day in the Long Stay area and £2.50 for 3 hours in the Short Stay area. Free parking is available at Bolton’s Bench at the end of the High Street.

The nearest train station is Ashurst New Forest. Bluestar Bus 6 connects both Ashurst and Brockenhurst train stations with Lyndhurst. There are various accommodation options in and around Lyndhurst.
