LSG Conference 2026 – Resilient Landscapes

Location: Memorial Hall, Pickering & the North York Moors National Park

Dates: Friday 6th and Saturday 7th November

Theme: Resilient Landscapes – Applying Archaeological Survey and Understanding to Holistic Nature Recovery

The conference will explore the growing role of landscape archaeology in shaping nature
recovery, climate resilience and long-term land management. It seeks to bring together
archaeologists, heritage / ecology / conservation professionals, land managers and community groups to consider how applied archaeological knowledge and investigation can help support better decision-making. At a time when environmental change is accelerating, this conference asks how the deep-time perspective of landscape archaeology can help shape more resilient futures. By reading the past carefully, we can act in ways that respect complexity, protect heritage, restore ecological value and strengthen the relationship between people and place.

Bursaries to assist towards the cost of attendance are available, please email LSG’s event officer nathalie.barrett@historicengland.org.uk for details and for any other event information.
